Teamwork
Teamwork is defined as “cooperative or coordinated effort on the part of a group of persons acting together as a team or in the interests of a common cause.”
When it comes to the church and the mission that Christ has called us to as outlined in Matthew 28:18-20, it is imperative that we develop teams in order to accomplish this task. One person cannot do it alone. Jesus sets us the example when He began this mission.
The first thing Christ did was develop a team of people who were willing to not only to go with Him, but learn from Him “how” to fulfill the mission. We see Him not trying to reach the world on His own (although He could have being God), but creating a team, training them, and then releasing them to the ministry.
We as the church need to understand that this mission is not to be done alone. We too are called to develop teams and work alongside one another to finish the mission that is at hand.
Below are 6 things we must-haves for teamwork to work and if we are going to accomplish this mission that is set before us.
If we are going to work together, these six things are vital in order to keep the team together – unity – and for teamwork to work.
What are your thoughts? Is there anything you would add to the list? Pull up a seat at the table and let's have a conversation. Comment below to get started.

- Choose not to be offended – Proverbs 19:11; Colossians 3:13
- Believe the best about our brothers/sisters in Christ – 1 Corinthians 13:7-8
- Speak well of one another – Proverbs 6:16, 19; Philippians 4:8; James 4:11
- Maintain loyalty to one another – Proverbs 21:21

It isn't always easy to step up to the plate and to be part of a team. For some, mustering up the courage to offer our time and in reality, a piece of ourselves to an individual, muchless to a group isn't always easy. When we feel inspired by the Holy Spirit to do this, it has often helped me to remember a few things. Each person on a "team", knows that the others on the "team" have a common goal. Each member is also willing to dy their best. Team members support one another, and know that to achrive the common goal, everyone has a part in the group. When we agree to be part of a team, we can best succeed when we contribute to the team through a loving attitude.
We each have "Self-Talk". How do we speak to ourselves in our thoughts? I know personablehave been hard on myself, I knew O wouldn't
Tina,
I think you said it best, "we can best succeed when we contribute to the team through a loving attitude". Without love being the main component of the team, it will not work out well. This love allows for people to make mistakes and creates an environment for them to grow in. None of us are perfect and the church should be the one place where we are allowed to work through our mess. With that love comes grace. Jesus definitely showed grace to the disciples even when they did mess up. Thank you for you input. Sorry it took me a bit to respond. It's been a crazy month! :)

Here I am being brave and adding a comment and my phone takes over & some how, submitted my comment before I finished!

The way we speak to ourselves, is very important. I can be pretty harsh when speaking to myself. But I have noticed how I speak to my grandchildren. Yes, they are children, and I am an adult. But my inner child, still needs love and compassion as my grandchildren do. My inner child, she wants to know she is cared about and supported by me, her adult self. When I take this into consideration, and I speak kindly to my inner child, she replies with understanding and isn't quick to defend herself. We have better communication and things run much more smoothly.
When working with others, it is important
to have an understanding that we are each functioning as best we can. Understanding that our inner child just wants to be loved. When we choose to speak to each other with love, we feel understood.
In no way am I saying to look down on others and treat them as if they are children, but seeing someone through the eyes of a child and the innocence a child has. When we speak with loving words and compassion, we can impact one another through positivity. And when we follow the example Christ gave us, we will find that we are all equals. Understanding that each individual desires to be part of this team . We want to be accepted and loved for who we are, as we are. I believe, it is then, that we are learning and growing together, for the good of the team as a whole. Living and serving Christ as he has asked us to do. There's no greater feeling, to have. Knowing we are living with intention, being obedient and serving the Lord.
