The Shepherds: The Joy of Good News

Scripture Reference: Luke 2:10-11 – “And the angel said to them, ‘Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.’”

Shepherds were often seen as outcasts, yet God chose them to be the first to hear the announcement of Jesus’ birth. This demonstrates that the gospel is for everyone, regardless of status or background. The angel’s message of “good news of great joy” transformed their ordinary night into one of eternal significance. In faith, the shepherds left their flocks to seek the Christ child, becoming the first evangelists as they shared the news with others.
